This privacy notice explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected when you contact Education Funding Solutions, use this website or engage my consultancy services.
Education Funding Solutions is operated by Lorraine Preston as a sole trader. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Lorraine Preston is the data controller where Education Funding Solutions determines how and why personal information is processed.

Education Funding Solutions is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Depending upon how you interact with Education Funding Solutions, I may collect and process information including:
· your name and job title;
· organisation or employer;
· email address and telephone number;
· information you provide through the website enquiry form, email or telephone;
· correspondence and communications with you;
· information required to prepare proposals, agreements and invoices;
· information supplied during consultancy, funding, bid-writing or compliance work; and
· limited technical information generated when you use the website, where applicable.
Where consultancy work involves access to information belonging to a client organisation, the respective data protection responsibilities will depend upon the nature of the engagement. Where I process personal information solely on a client's documented instructions, the client may remain the data controller and Education Funding Solutions may act as a data processor.
Personal information may be used to:
· respond to enquiries;
· discuss potential consultancy or bid-writing work;
· provide quotations and proposals;
· enter into and manage consultancy agreements;
· deliver consultancy, funding, bid-writing, policy, review and compliance services;
· communicate with clients during and following an assignment;
· maintain appropriate business and financial records;
· issue invoices and maintain accounting records;
· comply with legal, regulatory and tax obligations;
· manage and protect the website and business; and
· establish, exercise or defend legal claims where necessary.
I will not sell your personal information.
Under UK data protection law, I must have a lawful basis for using personal information. Depending upon the circumstances, I may rely upon:
Contract – where processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract or to provide services under an agreed contract.
Legal obligation – where information must be retained or processed to meet legal, tax, accounting or regulatory requirements.
Legitimate interests – where processing is reasonably necessary to operate and protect Education Funding Solutions, manage client relationships, respond to enquiries and develop the business, provided those interests do not override your rights and interests.
Consent – where consent is the appropriate lawful basis, for example for certain optional communications or non-essential website technologies. Where processing relies upon consent, you may withdraw that consent.
The ICO requires organisations to identify their lawful basis before processing personal information and explain it in their privacy information.
Because Education Funding Solutions provides consultancy and review services to organisations including education providers, I may occasionally be given access to information contained within client documents, records or systems.
I will only access and use information necessary for the agreed work and will handle it confidentially and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements and the terms agreed with the client.
Where possible, clients should provide anonymised or appropriately minimised information where identifiable personal information is not required for the assignment.
I will not routinely disclose personal information to third parties.
Information may be shared where reasonably necessary with trusted service providers supporting the operation of the business, such as website hosting, email, IT, accounting or professional advisers.
Information may also be disclosed where required by law, regulation or a competent authority.
Where third parties process personal information on my behalf, I will take appropriate steps to ensure that information is handled securely and in accordance with applicable data protection requirements.
Some technology or cloud service providers may process or store information outside the United Kingdom.
Where this occurs, I will take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards required by UK data protection law are in place.
Personal information will only be retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including satisfying legal, accounting, contractual and regulatory requirements.
Different types of information may therefore be retained for different periods.
Information that is no longer required will be securely deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss or misuse.
Access to client information is limited to what is necessary to provide the agreed services.
Depending upon the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights in relation to your personal information. These may include the right to:
· request access to your personal information;
· ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
· ask for personal information to be erased in certain circumstances;
· ask for processing to be restricted in certain circumstances;
· object to certain processing;
· request transfer of information in certain circumstances; and
· withdraw consent where consent is relied upon.
Not every right applies in every circumstance.
To exercise a data protection right, please contact lorraine@educationfundingsolutions.co.uk.
The ICO confirms that privacy notices should explain these rights and how people can exercise them.
